چکیده

Thermophysical bases of vitrification and crystallization are discussed in terms of the enthalpy versus temperature diagram and its derivative (DTA) illustrating relaxation and glass transformation as well as crystallization of glassy and amorphous states to form stable and metastable phases. Non-isothermal kinetics are thoroughly discussed and the use of one(JMAEK) and two(SB) parameter equations is described. The practical case of the complementary 70SiO 2 10A1203 20ZnO glass treatment is demonstrated for both standard nucleation-growth curves and corresponding DTA recordings; these show a good coincidence of the activation energies obtained.

Crystallization Kinetics and Characterization of Nanostructure Mica Glass-Ceramics with Optical Transparency

Transparent glasses in a system of Li2O-MgO-SiO2-Al2O3-Fchemical constituents were prepared by melt quenching method. In the fabrication of nanocrystal glass-ceramics, controlled nucleation and subsequent crystal growth were necessary to avoid loss of transparency. It was therefore important to understand thermal properties and crystallization kinetic...

Nanoscale size effects in crystallization of metallic glass nanorods

Atomistic understanding of crystallization in solids is incomplete due to the lack of appropriate materials and direct experimental tools. Metallic glasses possess simple metallic bonds and slow crystallization kinetics, making them suitable to study crystallization. Here, we investigate crystallization of metallic glass-forming liquids by in-situ heating metallic glass nanorods inside a transm...

Crystallization Kinetics of Metallic Glasses

Metallic glasses are kinetically metastable materials. Metallic glass is defined as “A liquid, which has been cooled into a state of rigidity without crystallizing”. Properties of metallic glasses differ form non metallic glasses. Ordinary glasses are made up of silica while metallic glasses are made of alloy metals. Ordinary glasses are transparent whereas metallic glasses are opaque. In ordin...

Effect of P2O5 on Crystallization Behavior and Chemical Resistance of Dental Glasses in the Li2O-SiO2-ZrO2 System

Commercial dental lithium disilicate based glass-ceramics containing various amounts of P2O5 were synthesized. Regarding the crystallization behavior and physico-chemical properties of the glasses, the optimum percent of P2O5 was determined.as 8 %wt. Crystallization behavior of the glasses was investigated by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and differential thermal analysis (DTA). The micro-hardness a...

Non-Isothermal Kinetic Analysis of the Crystallization of Metallic Glasses Using the Master Curve Method

The non-isothermal transformation rate curves of metallic glasses are analyzed with the Master Curve method grounded in the Kolmogorov-Johnson-Mehl-Avrami theory. The method is applied to the study of two different metallic glasses determining the activation energy of the transformation and the experimental kinetic function that is analyzed using Avrami kinetics. The analysis of the crystalliza...
